Cabinet refacing is a process that involves removing all of the kitchen cabinet doors, drawer fronts, hinges, and moldings from your existing kitchen cabinets, and preparing and covering all of the exterior surfaces of the cabinet box (sides, bottom and face-frame) to match the brand new stained or painted cabinet doors, drawer fronts and moldings.
Then we install brand new kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts, custom-made to fit your kitchen cabinets, and brand-new hardware, pulls, hinges and moldings. You will choose the look and feel of your kitchen by selecting from a wide variety of door styles, as well as new hardware and moldings to suit your taste. The end result will look like we have torn everything out and installed a brand new kitchen!
At Midwest Kitchens, we use only the highest quality doors and drawer fronts made of solid maple, cherry, birch, oak, and other North American hardwoods. We offer a wide selection of custom door styles and finishes from Showplace Cabinetry. All of the hardwoods are stained, sealed, varnished and oven-cured in a controlled manufacturing setting at the Showplace Cabinetry factory in South Dakota. Painted finishes are also top-coated with varnish and oven cured for a long-lasting finish. We are proud to offer a line of kitchen cabinets that are made in the U.S.A. by an employee-owned company.
Cabinet refacing is an excellent option for kitchen cabinets that are structurally sound but that look worn or dated. The majority of kitchen cabinets that we reface are between 15 – 45 years old. With cabinet refacing, you get to choose the look and feel of your new kitchen without having to completely remodel it, and cabinet refacing is a fraction of the cost of brand new kitchen cabinets. So if your existing kitchen cabinet “boxes” are in good shape, but your cabinet doors are showing wear, or if you are simply unhappy with the color or style of the doors, then cabinet refacing is right for you.
Most cabinet refacing projects can be completed in one week, depending on the size of the kitchen and the scope of the project. Our customers often choose to make kitchen design modifications and replace countertops and tile at the same time. When you select Midwest Kitchens for your kitchen project, we guide you through the entire cabinet refacing and kitchen remodeling process. After we determine the scope of the project with you, we will provide a realistic estimate of the completion date for your cabinet refacing project.
There are many benefits to cabinet refacing versus having your existing kitchen cabinets painted by a local painter. Here is a list of reasons why cabinet refacing is the better long-term choice for your kitchen:
Midwest Kitchens offers both cabinet refacing and brand new kitchen cabinets. If your kitchen cabinets are over approximately 45 years old, it may be time to replace them with brand new kitchen cabinets. When we come out for a consultation, we make an assessment of your existing cabinets and help you decide which option is best for you. We will always give you our honest opinion, and never attempt to sell you something that you do not need. However, in many cases with kitchen cabinets over 45 years old, replacement may be the best long term option.
Midwest Kitchens is a family owned and operated business, and has been providing cabinet refacing and kitchen remodeling services for over 25 years in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Over the years, we have seen other cabinet refacing companies come and go, but Midwest Kitchens remains a consistent leader in cabinet refacing in the Kansas City area. We take pride in our workmanship and never cut corners on your kitchen.
For example, we select our vendors very carefully. We exclusively use the Blum brand of hinges, which are the gold standard in hinges and most durable in the industry. We use Rev-a-Shelf for Lazy Susans, spice inserts, and trash pull-outs. And of course, we are a proud dealer for Showplace Cabinetry, made in the USA.
Midwest Kitchens does our very best to limit the disruption that a kitchen remodeling project can cause. We protect your existing floors and surfaces and apply plastic around the work area to help contain dust in your home. We also care about your pets and will instruct you on how to keep them safe during the remodeling process.
At Midwest Kitchens, we treat your kitchen with care and respect, as if it were our own. We pride ourselves on completing projects on time and within budget. We deliver on the promises we make and operate the business with honesty with integrity. We also enjoy creating gorgeous new kitchens!
Our customers have been extremely satisfied with the work we do and appreciate our attention to detail. Here’s a recent Google review from a homeowner Cedar Creek, Olathe, Kansas:

The job started on time and was completed on time, as promised. They took very good care of us and our home, listening to what we wanted and offering great suggestions along the way. Mike is amazing at what he does. He is a perfectionist and treated our kitchen as if it was his home. I interviewed several contractors about our kitchen.
